Part of what goes on in our minds we are aware of - that voice we hear inside our heads - but there are also parts that we do not directly perceive. Often these "unconscious" parts are linked to past traumas and undermine our behavior.
Kirtan Kriya is a simple meditation, backed by academic research, which is highly effective in clearing out the unconscious influences of our past.
It involves chanting a simple mantra, Sa - Ta - Na - Ma and on each segment, touching our thumb to the next consecutive finger on each hand (forming a "mudra").
For the next week at Yoga @ the Farm, we'll be practising the 31 minute version of Kirtan Kriya, partly in preparation for Meditation in the Park on Sunday, 27th June. At this event, which is organised by the Yoga @ the Farm teachers along with many others, there will be a drop-in style continuous meditation from 12pm - 4pm where participants can come and go as they wish.
So come along to class this week to have a deep experience of this powerful technique.
